After the resounding success of Raktabeej, the political action thriller film Raktabeej 2 officially released on September 25th, 2025, at the onset of the Durga Puja festival, and the grand premiere was held at Cinepolis, Acropolis Mall on September 26th, 2025. Raktabeej 2, which has been directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, is the sequel to Raktabeej.
The movie stars actor Abir Chatterjee, Victor Banerjee, actress Mimi Chakraborty, Seema Biswas, Ankush Hazra, Koushani Mukherjee, and is produced by Windows Production House, written by Zinia Sen.
The story continues from where it left off in the first film, after the failed assassination attempt on President Animesh Chatterjee. In the sequel, investigators Sanjukta Mitra and Pankaj Sinha uncover ‘Mission M2’, a terrorist plot for destabilising the relations between India and Bangladesh. The investigation now follows a new terrorist leader named Munir Alam from India to Thailand.
The film has a 9/10 rating on IMDB. The film has got inspiration from the security challenges faced during the 2013 visit of President Pranab Mukherjee to Bangladesh and focuses on a high-stakes investigation into cross-border terrorism, led by terrorist leader Munir Alam. The mission spans from India to Thailand, dealing with extremist groups who attempt to destabilise and disrupt the ties between India and Bangladesh, leading to national conflict between the two neighbouring countries. The film has been received positively by critics.
At the grand premiere launch on Friday, actor Ankush Hazra, who played the role of Munir Alam in the film, said: “Commercial actors like us take time to be fully recognised as an actor. Makers usually by watching any comedy film done by me, they will offer me comedy roles. However, there are certain makers who offer me a different kind of role, and Shiboprosad Mukherjee is one of them.”
He added: “A film is made through a director’s vision and the director has the power to give you that opportunity to be a star.”
